Expect a Chamillitary presence in Third Ward tomorrow.

Chamillionaire? Aight, BET!

Ya heard? Houston's own Chamillionaire will be among the artists appearing at the BET Black College Tour stop at Texas Southern University tomorrow.

The rapper and BET are having a bit of love affair these days, besides headlining the Black College Tour, Chamillionaire is up for five 2006 BET Hip Hop Awards. Chamillionaire might have to invest in a trophy case pretty soon since he just took home the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video (where he beat out 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes), and he's got the American Music Awards nomination for Favorite New Breakthrough Artist. Chamillionaire earned all those honors, his 2005 major label debut The Sound of Revenge went platinum-plus and he was just certified the best-selling ringtone artist ever (by folks who look at that kind of stuff) for "Ridin.'" Dang.

Mad Linx, host of the BET's Rap City, will emcee the Black College Tour stop at TSU, with actor/Wild 'N Out mastermind Nick Cannon (who has a CD due in December) and Florida rapper Young Cash also on hand.

Of course, there will be plenty of chances for locals to show off their own talents with the Dreamgirls Singer's Spotlight, a "Freestyle Flow" Rap Battle and a Step Contest. Don't worry if you can't sing, rap or step: There's also a 3-point Shoot Out, 2-on-2 B-Ball Competition and a football toss for sports fans. - Olivia Flores Alvarez

The BET Black College Tour stops by Texas Southern University, 3100 Cleburne, Friday, October 27. Call 713-313-7011 for information.
