Comment of the Day: Stop Hurting Our Feelings, NBA Free Agents

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning or afternoon from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

The sound you heard from over near Toyota Center on Thursday wasn't leftover fireworks from Independence Day, it was the Houston Rockets blowing all their business the hell up. Since this offseason began, the Rockets have swung and missed on trading up into the top ten of the draft, re-signing Goran Dragic, signing Eric Gordon and trading for Dwight Howard. On Thursday, they reportedly sent Kyle Lowry to Toronto and were still working to sign Jeremy Lin to an offer sheet that would almost certainly be matched by the New York Knicks.

It's been tough in Rocket land these days, but also for Houston by proxy as one of our commenters mentioned on our story about Dragic and Linsanity.

I doubt there is anyone who can make you feel worse for being from Houston than an NBA free agent. One can take only so much rejection...

KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
