Comment of the Day: Talking with the Victims of Candace Schwager's DWI Crash

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning or afternoon from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We wrote about how Candace Schwager, the woman who got in an ugly pissing match with local blogger Jay Lee over copyright, had been charged with intoxicated assault with a motor vehicle after driving into a motorcycle.

Friends and relatives of the motorcyclist provided updates about the severity of his injuries, and a reader offered comfort.

Shannon,

Thank you for taking the time to post and thank you for your link to your blog, I can not begin to imagine what this has been like for you and him. It is unfortunate that the initial reports of this accident fall way short of how truly sever and saddening it really was/is for you and Victor. Even in reviewing the incident reports and the court documents, there is no real indication of how truly f'd up this was. I am surprised it took so long to get reported---even today, I think houstonpress is the only place that has any official reporting of your story. Regardless, you and your friends have provided way more information then any other source. You and Victor; your friends and family are all in my thoughts and prayers and I am hoping that Victor gets better very soon.

KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
