Police say Demarcus Dwayne West and his girlfriend had a history of domestic violence and this past weekend, that ended with West’s death.

West, of 10010 Cullen, died about 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, after being stabbed in his apartment at 10010 Cullen. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His girlfriend “was questioned and released at the scene,” police said.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Senior Police Officer M. Stahlin, the couple had gotten into an argument inside their apartment. “According to West’s girlfriend, he grabbed her and tried to choke her. The girlfriend broke free and then stabbed West in an attempt to defend herself,” the police report said.

The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
