Are you getting off tomorrow or Monday for the Fourth? There seems to be differing theories out there.

Here in Hair Balls land, we're calling tomorrow the Fourth -- we'll still be posting plenty of stuff, so be sure to check in, though. We do it because we love.

But if you're also taking tomorrow as your off day, that means you've probably started the slow slide from work mode to long-weekend mode.

Whatever you do, don't make the switch without remembering our Fourth of July photo contest.

We want your best Fourth pictures -- fireworks, barbecues, kids with sparklers, topless women, anything (except maybe not the last) (but feel free, don't let us stop you).

Post them to the Houston Press Flickr pool by 8 a.m. Monday.

The first-place winner gets a nice bottle of wine and a $50 gift card from whichever restaurant they prefer: Yardhouse, Goode Company Barbecue or Kim Son.

Second prize is a $25 gift card from your choice of Frank's Pizza or Lucky's.

Good luck, and don't forget to click and send.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
