Dynamo a Go-Go

The Dynamo are *this* close to winning it all. All they need is a visit from you. Really.

Quick: Name the Houston professional football franchise that has gone to a championship game in the first year of its existence.

(Cue crickets/tumbleweeds)

Okay, so maybe we meant f偀bol. But if you said the Houston Dynamo, you've clearly been reading this blog. Yep, our MLS squad is headed to Pizza Hut Park in scenic Frisco, TX (it's gotta be scenic, right?) for the MLS Cup game against the New England Revolution this Sunday. So this afternoon, Mayor Bill White will host the official Houston Dynamo Send-Off. A saavy move, considering Mayor White recently called for a "Go Orange! Day" in October. Not bad, Mayor. How about hooking us up with a "No Traffic Forever Day," if it's that easy?

Anyhoo, Houston Dynamo president Oliver Luck and assistant coach John Spencer will join the Mayor White and various City Council members. The player roster includes Craig Waibel, Alejandro Moreno, Paul Dalglish, Stuart Holden, Zach Wells, Ryan Cochrane, Kelly Gray, Brad Davis and Brian Mullan.

Show up at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall ( 901 Bagby), and you can sign a banner for the Dynamo to take to the Finals. The kicker (get it?): Wing Stop will provide free lunch to the first 200 fans. Free lunch and a Mayor White sighting? (Oh yeah, and some soccer guys too?) Sounds like a party. — Steven Devadanam
