Some of my NFL Fantasy Crime League updates are less surprising than others. Some of my NFL Fantasy Crime League updates are sadder than others, too.

Then there are Fantasy Crime League updates involving Browns wide receiver and native Houstonian Josh Gordon, which are sadly not very surprising (and, not surprisingly, very sad).

It's almost like Josh Gordon warrants his own yet-to-be invented adjective, because no player is more needlessly throwing away a chance at superstardom than Gordon is in Cleveland.

As Gordon awaits the decision from the league on what length suspension his most recent failure of a drug test will net him, along comes this bit of news, courtesy of WKYC in Cleveland:

WKYC has confirmed that Browns receiver Josh Gordon was arrested early this morning in Raleigh, North Carolina for driving while impaired.

In addition to the DUI charge, Gordon was issued a speeding citation for going 50 mph in a 35 mph area.

Gordon was arrested by Raleigh Police Department and then booked in the Wake County Detention Center around 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

"We are aware of the matter and are disappointed to learn of this situation," Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement. "We will comment further at the appropriate time."

If there's a "worst possible way" to lay low while the league determines how to punish you for failing a drug test (again), I'd say getting drunk and putting others in danger is probably on the short list. (Unfortunately, Aaron Hernandez never failed a drug test while he was in the league, otherwise, we'd probably have a bar set.)

The sad part, and the part that would seem to indicate Gordon is either really helpless or really stupid, is that Gordon is throwing away a golden opportunity. There was a point during the 2013 season when Gordon was giving us some of the most dominant wide receiver play that we've seen in league history. In Weeks 12 and 13 last season, Gordon became the first player to ever record back-to-back 200 yard receiving games when he went for 237 yards against the Steelers and 261 yards against the Jaguars.

Gordon finished 2013 with a league leading 1,646 yards receiving, despite missing two games with his first drug-related suspension, and was named first team All-Pro, along with Detroit's Calvin Johnson.

And that's with total scrubs at quarterback (no disrespect to titans of the position Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden). With first round draft choice (and resident party boy) Johnny Manziel in the fold, this coming season was going to likely be just as prolific for Gordon, and certainly more interesting.

And now this happens.

Gordon's former teammate, D'Qwell Jackson, who is now with the Colts, tweeted this over the weekend:

Well put.
