It's crunch time now, the time when the true greats show why we revere them so.

Yes, the NFL offseason is merely days away from ending, and while this year's police blotter has been more sparse than usual in terms of overall crime, the race to the finish is highly compelling. It's almost like we are in a tight pennant race during the "dead ball" era -- short on offensive fireworks, but still drama-laden.

The chalk right now to take the 2014 Fantasy Crime League crown is the two Harbaugh brothers and one of their squads, the 49ers and the Ravens, trailed closely by the Bills, who've been buoyed by the one-man crime wrecking crew that is defensive tackle Marcell Dareus.

And late in the game, don't look now, but here come the St. Louis Rams! And this criminal incident has an NBA flavor to it, with a former (briefly) Houston Rocket involved!

Early Sunday morning, St. Louis Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar and former NBA first-round pick (2008) Donte Greene were arrested outside a nightclub in the South Beach area of Miami.

Courtesy of CBS Miami:

Jo-Lonn Dunbar, who plays for the St. Louis Rams of the NFL, and Donte Green, an NBA free-agent who last played for the Sacramento Kings in 2012, were arrested early Sunday morning outside of Dream Nightclub in South Beach.

Both were arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct after taking place in a physical altercation outside of the nightclub.

Dunbar came into the league as an undrafted free-agent in 2008 and played the first four years of his career with the New Orleans Saints. After signing with the St. Louis Rams in 2012 Dunbar had his best season as a pro, starting all 16 games. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season after violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Greene was selected in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. He has played in 253 games during his NBA career, all with the Sacramento Kings, but none since 2012. Greene is attempting an NBA comeback after playing last season in China and has most recently played for the Brooklyn Nets Summer League team.

It's unclear from the story as to whether the physical altercation that involved both players was one in which the two were adversaries or tag team partners. If it was the latter, and you're wondering where the connection is between the two, both have ties to the Syracuse, New York, area, with Dunbar having grown up there and Greene having played his one year of college basketball at Syracuse.

Houstonians probably have a better working knowledge (or at least a general awareness of his existence) of Greene, who was traded to the Rockets from the Memphis Grizzlies shortly after the 2008 NBA Draft. The high point of Greene's Rocket career was in a 2008 summer league game, where he scored 40 points.

A few weeks later, Greene went to the Sacramento Kings as part of the Ron Artest trade, and he faded into oblivion (which may also be referred to as "Sacramento.") Here are the updated Fantasy Crime League standings...
