Shot to death despite a nearby cop

Inocencio Martinez-Solis, 36, Bayou Body Count No. 250

A shooting at a southwest side car wash -- while a cop was investigating a traffic accident next door -- left a 36-year-old man dead, police say.

I(nocencio Martinez-Solis was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene in the 7100 block of Alder Street about 9:30 Monday night, HPD says.

They say an officer was investigating a traffic accident next door to the car wash when he heard a gunshot.

"According to witnesses, a white 2005 to 2008 Nissan Frontier four-door pickup truck drove by the area twice and slowed down at the car wash just before two gunshots were heard," police said.

Robbery is believed to be the motive, police say, adding "The suspect driving the Nissan is described only as a Hispanic male, 42 to 45 years of age and a chubby build."

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
