The Minnesota Wild, the parent club of the Houston Aeros, also started their season last week. The Wild are currently 2-0 on the season, having defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 1-0 and the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2. Their next game is against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night.
And while the club appears to be well-stocked at the center position, the word from St. Paul is that Aeros center Benoit Pouliot will not only be the first player Aero to be called up to the Wild this season, but that the move will be sooner rather than later. The promotion could come as early as this weekend, when he would be joining the Wild on a three-game West Coast road trip.
Pouliot was a rookie with the Aeros last season who tallied 36 points and 109 penalties in minutes (PIM – it’s short for the amount of time spent in the penalty box) in 67 games. He’s a native of Alfred, Ontario, and was a first round choice of the Wild in 2005.
Meanwhile, the Aeros next game is Friday night in Des Moines against the Iowa Stars. The Aeros will then return to Toyota Center for a Saturday night game against the Peoria Rivermen. – John Royal
