An 82-year-old woman was beaten to death as part of a robbery in a quiet southwest-side neighborhood last night, Houston police said.
Margaret Marie Gage, 82, was at home in the 5700 block of Sanford in Westbury when her husband opened the back door about 8:45 p.m. to let out their dog, police say.
"An unknown male suspect forced entry and pushed the husband to the ground," HPD says. "The suspect kicked the husband in the head. At that time, Mrs. Gage tried to intervene and the suspect fatally beat her with his hands."
He then forced her husband to show him where the couple's valuables were.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
