Nicholas Scott Grammer: Almost Dies on a Stolen Motorcycle, Swipes Another Weeks Later, Police Say

From looking at his court records and two Facebook pages, it's clear that Nicholas Scott Grammer loves motorcycles. Unfortunately for the 22-year-old Deer Park native and everyone else in the Galveston Bay area, it seems that he loves two things even more: 1) not paying for them, and 2) speeding and running from police while riding them.

That combo of passions almost got him killed this March.

According to Seabrook police, on March 5, Grammer answered an ad offering a black 2008 Kawasaki ZXSR for sale. On meeting the owner, Grammer test-drove the $6,000 bike, returned briefly to the owner's home, exchanged a few words and zoomed off without forking over a dime.

On March 18, Seabrook cop A. Schwartz was called to assist a Lakeview police officer who had managed to pull over one of two speeding motorcycles. While Schwartz was en route, Grammer allegedly circled back around to the scene to taunt his unlucky rival. According to the report, he yelled that other biker should "kick his ass," but we're thinking it's a typo. (Surely Grammer said that his ass should be kissed instead of kicked.)

The Lakeview cop told Grammer to hop off his bike and join the little party, but Grammer had other plans. He hopped on the Kawasaki, roared off and passed Schwartz, who spotted Grammer headed in the opposite direction on NASA Parkway. According to the complaint, Grammer was traveling "at a high rate of speed, well over the posted 45 mile per hour speed limit."

Schwartz hit his lights, flipped on his siren, turned around and gave chase. The pursuit continued all the way across Seabrook and into Bacliff. As Grammer tried to turn onto Highway 146, he wiped out into a passing car, totaling the bike and sending himself to the hospital.

Six days later he was well enough to post on Facebook that he was out of the hospital and at his mom's. On April 11, he was charged with two felonies -- theft and evading arrest -- but apparently by then he had gone into hiding, as court records state that he was not arrested until yesterday.

Which was two days after he allegedly stole another motorcycle, this one belonging to a Pasadena man. (That same day, he posted the bike above on one of his Facebook pages. We don't know if it's the same one.) He was charged with felony evading arrest and two counts of felony theft. He's already been convicted of two DWIs, burglary of a building and assault/bodily injury.

But you can't say the kid didn't learn anything from his first ordeal. Not only did he not try to run from the cops this time, but there's also this:

"DOES ANYONE HAVE A MOTORCYCLE HELMET I CAN BORROW OR BUY FROM YOU???" he asked his Facebook friends earlier this week.

Safety first! And hey, he even offered to pay!
