An odd shooting on the north side Tuesday night has police chasing the vaguest of leads.
Two people were shot about 11 p.m. in the 4600 block of Beggs; police discovered them when they answered a call about shots being fired. Amanda Barajas, 24, is in critical condition at a local hospital; Carlos Soto, 31, is in stable condition.
Cops who answered the "shots fired" call found the two inside the residence. "Both had been shot," HPD says. "Investigators were told an unknown male suspect wearing a black uniform knocked on the door of the residence. When the victims answered the door, both were shot without provocation."

A guy in a black uniform comes knocking on the door at 11 p.m.? We're not so sure we'd answer that knock.
Police describe the suspect as "a dark-complected, black male in his mid to late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build."
