So I was fooling around on the interwebs yesterday, and between the launch of the MLB Network, the naming today of the new class for the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the coming of spring training, I was in a bit of a baseball mood. And I came across this blog detailing the All-Time Rosters for various baseball teams, including the Houston Astros. Now this guy gives two rosters, the All-Time Home Grown team and the All-Time Acquired team.
I'll let you go look at his rosters, but I thought I would give my own All-Time Houston Astros rosters. Now remember, the Home Grown roster consists of guys who were drafted by the Astros or acquired as free agents without having ever been a part of any other organization, and they had to have played minor league ball in the Astros organization. The Acquired roster are those guys who started their career with some other organization.
I've got 25 guys on each roster - 14 position players and 11 pitchers. And thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that the Astros have done an awful job of developing shortstops and catchers.

Shortstop: Adam Everett - see, I told you they've done a bad job with the shortstops.

Right Field: Terry Puhl.
Catcher: Craig Biggio - see, I told you they did an awful job with catcher because Biggio spent most of his career at second base.

Catcher: Alan Ashby.
There you go. As you can see, my rosters differ a bit from the guy who started this, but then again, I've been watching the Astros all of my life. And I'm sure lots of you out there have spent way too much time watching them as well. So if I really screwed it up, let me know.
And remember, it's only a month until pitchers and catchers report.
