The 2-5-1-0 Houston Aeros will be taking on the expansion Lake Erie Monsters twice this weekend. The first game will be tonight, at the Toyota Center, with game time set for 7:35. The second game is set for Sunday afternoon at the Toyota Center for a 4:05 game time.

The Aeros are currently sitting in last place of the AHL Western Conference’s West Division.

The team announced several player moves yesterday.

Goalie Nolan Schaefer and right winger Cal Clutterbuck were returned to the Aeros from the parent club Minnesota Wild. Right winger Benoit Pouliot, who’s been playing some center for the Aeros, was called up to the big club.

Barry Brust has been getting all of the playing time in goal since Schaefer was called up. Coach Kevin Constantine told us earlier in the week that he likes to play one goalie because that gets the goalie into a rhythm that helps the club, and Brust has been excellent the past week, so I’m expecting Brust to continue to get a majority of the playing time.

But I’ve been wrong before.

So come out to the Toyota Center this weekend and watch the fun in person. What else are you going to do Sunday afternoon, watch the Texans lose? – John Royal
