It sounds like something out of a Scorsese movie -- a gunshot in a parked car, two people get out and leave, one dead body remains.

That's what happened about 11 p.m. Tuesday at the Kingswood Apartments in the 3200 block of Mangum, police say.

Witnesses said two Hispanic males were seen running from the scene into the interior of the apartment complex, although other witnesses said three Hispanic males "fled the scene in a
black Chevrolet Monte Carlo shortly after the shooting."

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
