One of many fun things about the National Football League offseason is that you can actually continue to gamble on the sport while there are no games being played. It’s a beautiful thing, really! Specifically, if you want to get in on the long term arc of season win total betting, you can do it right now, even before free agency and the draft are here.

To that end, the betting website BetOnline.ag put out their first set of 2026 season win total futures odds this past week. Here they are, with a few of my plays below:

AFC TOTALS

Okay, here are my four plays I would make right now, even before free agency and the draft:

Texans OVER 9.5 -110

I normally don’t like taking overs, because a significant injury or two can kill your bet, but I am taking the Texans OVER 9.5 for two reasons. First, DeMeco Ryans has gotten to ten or more wins in all three of his seasons as head coach. Second, I think, even if something happened to C.J. Stroud, the Texans can win ten games.

Colts UNDER 8.5 -125

I took the Colts UNDER 7.5 last season, and had to endure one of the more painful beats of my gambling career, as they got off to a 7-1 start, only to falter to a 1-8 stretch run. They finished the season playing like one of the worst teams in football, and I still lost my bet! That can’t happen again. The solution at quarterback might be signing Daniel Jones coming off a torn Achilles. With the AFC South much tougher terrain than in years past, give me the UNDER.

Patriots UNDER 10.5 -150

The Patriots had the good fortune to play one of the easiest schedules in NFL history last season, and to their credit, they handled it nicely, going 14-3 in the regular season. However, the postseason, in which the Patriots faced four of the five best defenses in football, exposed second year quarterback Drake Maye to be a little overrated, if nothing else. The schedule gets significantly more difficult in 2026, so we are going UNDER.

Dolphins 4.5 UNDER -110

The one NFL team this offseason that’s made it very clear that they are tearing their roster down to the studs is the Miami Dolphins. They’ve cut Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill, who when healthy, are probably their two best players. They’ve released several other players in salary dumps, and they’re reportedly trying to trade their starting QB Tua Tagovailoa. The number here is as low as it gets at 4.5, and I’m still not scared. This team has 2-15 written all over them.
