CBS News must have a thing for former Houston sportscasters. First it was Hannah Storm who, for several years, anchored CBS’s The Early Show. Now it’s Chris Wragge.
You remember Chris Wragge, don’t you? He was the guy who replaced Craig Roberts at Channel Two, and then he headed up to New York City to do sports for one of the local stations. He did some time for NBC Sports while they had Arena Football. Now he’s been tagged to be the permanent co-host for CBS’s Saturday version of The Early Show.
I’ve never seen what’s been so big about Wragge. I thought he was perfectly average as a local sports anchor. He certainly, as an anchor, never stood out. He never struck me as someone enterprising enough to go out and break news. Which, I guess, is what CBS is looking for?
Wragge did stand out in his personal life, however, as his wife is former Playmate of the Year Victoria Silvstedt. (NSFW) They’re now separated.
But I’ve got to wonder what CBS has for Houston. Don’t forget, Paula Zahn was also a former anchor of CBS’s early morning new shows, and she, too, came from a stint working in Houston, although I don’t remember Paula doing any sports while she was here.

I wonder if Giff Nielson might be next in line for something. Or Mark Berman.
Oh well. Here’s a nice way to end your week, with a little video of Mrs. Wragge.
