Save the Woods this evening, yo.

Visit the Scenic Woods

In less than five minutes, Houston songstress Scenic Woods will take the stage at BET's 106th & Park "Wild-Out Wednesday" competition in NYC. Think of it as a talent contest, with a girl from H-town representin'. (Seriously representin' — Scenic's name is taken from the north side neighborhood she grew up in.)

You may have seen Woods perform at the Red Cat Jazz Cafe or M-Bar. If you're not familiar with her work, simply peruse this excerpt from her MySpace bio:

Though Scenic Woods is recently becoming a spoken name in Houston and other major cities such as New York, L.A., Atlanta, Miami, and Dallas, she is no rookie to the music game. Her face is familiar to many as a former member of Def Squad's female trio, Tha Truth! and previous background vocalist for Faith Evans. This H-Town songbird prides collaborations with Missy Elliott, Def Squad's Erick Sermon and The RZA of Wu-Tang, is a recurrent performer at The Tampax/Pantene Total You Tour since 2003 and also co-starred in Bella, a Pan African Film Festival screened independent film. This, along with her life-long study of dance has molded her into the quadruple threat she is today.

'Nuff said. So, log onto BET.com at 5 p.m. and click the little "Wild-Out Wednesday" icon. You'll be supporting Scenic Woods, which just sounds like it has to count towards a community service credit. — Steven Devadanam
