Last week I wrote a post about the latest edition of Playboy.com's Sexiest Sportscaster contest. And I was a bit disappointed at some of the choices. And though I have some Erin Andrews burnout, I could understand the desire of many of my fellow males (and probably quite a few females too) to see her naked, even if there is no indication that she would so pose if she were to win. She didn't last year, after all.
My disappointment, instead, was directed to the nominations of Lisa Guerrero and Melissa Stark for the award. Both are former Monday Night Football sideline reporters, both are former nominees, and Guerrero has posed for the magazine before. But neither, to my knowledge, is currently a sports broadcaster, so it seems puzzling that they are once again nominated, especially when Suzy Kolber, who was the leading write-in candidate the last time around, is once again ignored.
I know that some of you aren't too fond of Ms. Kolber, so Mr. Joe Namath and myself are going to have disagree with you on that. But for those of you who aren't inclined to agree with me about the attributes of Ms. Kolber and the need to make her the write-in candidate, then allow me to go a little more in-depth on my other suggestion for the award.
Her name is Carrie Milbank, and she is the host of "The Hockey Show" on NHL.com. And for those of you who say an internet host isn't a broadcaster, well, remember that Lisa Guerrero and Melissa Stark are nominated. And remember that several of the nominees are also Internet-only based.
But I've got a few other reasons for her suggestion. Here's one. And here's another. And how about this for a reason: Not only does she do a hockey show, but she's a former cheerleader? And not just any kind of cheerleader, she's a former NFL cheerleader.
That's right. Carrie Milbank was a cheerleader for the Houston Texans, and not only was she a cheerleader, but she was the squad's captain, and she represented the Texan cheerleaders at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii on several occasions. And while she was born in California, she was raised in Texas and attended Texas Tech for several years before heading off to Florida to finish college.
And if you're still not sold on Carrie Milbank as Playboy.com's Sexiest Sportscaster, then check out another photo.
Look, I know you all have the hots for Erin Andrews. But she's never going to be in the magazine, and I think it's time for a new winner. I know that not all of you agree with me about Suzy Kolber. But I think we can all agree that Carrie Milbank is a worthy candidate. So if not Suzy, vote Carrie. Because that's change in which we all can believe.
