Support the independent voice of Houston and help keep the future of Houston Press free.

Silly us, we thought everyone was taking Friday off instead of Monday to celebrate the Fourth.

So we made the deadline for entering our photo contest 8 a.m. this morning. We've gotten a lot of great shots, but we don't want to penalize anyone who was too busy clicking and celebrating today to upload what they shot.

So the deadline has been extended until 8 a.m. tomorrow to win free food and drink.

Just upload your best Fourth photos to the Houston Press Flickr page by 8 a.m. Tuesday.

First-place winner gets a bottle of wine and a $50 gift card to their choice of Goode Copmany, Yardhouse or Kim Son.

Second prize gets a $25 gift card to Frank's Pizza or Lucky's.

Third prize gets the thrill of having tried.

Good luck.........

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
