$13 at Auntie Chang's Dumpling House

Where: Auntie Chang's Dumpling House, 2621 South Shepherd #290, 713-524-8410

What $13 gets you: A generous serving of tea-flavored crispy duck and broccoli with a vegetable soup.

At the suggestion of a helpful reader, I went back to Auntie Chang's for some duck takeout to share for dinner. I picked up the suggested crispy tea-flavored duck ($9.50) and a small vegetable soup ($1.75), which left a small tip, and headed home for movie night. The duck, even after a few minutes of travel in the takeout foil container, was still fairly crispy (with no mushy, unpleasant fat) and served on a bed of steamed broccoli. It was a lot of duck -- the tray was piled high with meaty pieces with cripsy, fatty skin. Refreshingly, it wasn't as salty as most duck you get. It was enough for two with leftovers and is probably the best deal inside the loop. The soup, as always, was a light, tasty broth with crispy vegetables, and hit the spot when topped with a little chili oil.

Recommended? Oh, yes. This $13 dinner for two was just what was needed for a lazy movie night.

Sound off: Where is your favorite place for duck?
