Bernie's Burger Bus Employee Did Not Die In Tragic Gun Game, Cops Now Say; Shooter On The Run

Although there was some confusion surrounding the death of Bernie's Burger Bus employee Daniel Pacheco, 18, Houston police initially said that Pacheco was killed July 10 when he and friends were drinking and passing around a gun someone thought was unloaded.

Now the story nas changed, and HPD is looking for Christian Meza, 19, who has been charged with murder.

"Further investigation determined the friends were not passing around the revolver and partying, but were instead preparing to leave the apartment," police say.

"Meza saw Pacheco load the revolver and took it from him. While Pacheco was putting on his shoes, Meza pointed the weapon at him and pulled the trigger. Pacheco was struck in the top of the head and died."

He fled with the gun and has been on the run since.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Christian Meza is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
