Best Deli: Mandola's Deli

Houston is not loaded with a wealth of delis, but the ones that are here are not just fantastic but unique, with their own styles and flavors. Mandola's Deli, just across the freeway from the University of Houston, is steeped in tradition and great food, particularly if you enjoy Italian. Yes, their meat and cheese case is full of plenty of delicious deli offerings, but their meals, which is what most people come to this wood-paneled gem to eat, are spectacular. Try the meatball sub, one of the best in the city, or their chicken parmesan on garlic bread for lunch, then have some pasta or chicken marsala for dinner. Either way, follow it up with a cannoli just because.
