Best Tex-Mex: Candente

Mashing Mexican flavors with barbecue swagger, Tex-Mex gets a smoky twist at this Montrose staple (no surprise—it’s the sister spot to The Pit Room). The menu goes big, bold, and unapologetically Texan, from queso topped with chopped brisket to birria tacos dripping with bone marrow and consomé. Add in fajitas sizzling with prime Niman Ranch cuts, smoky campechana and a Mezcal Margarita that goes down way too easy, and you’ve got yourself a party. After six years, this place is still on fire.
