If you haven't already heard, the Houston Press is hosting a massive, Texas-size block party to celebrate our 23rd Best of Houston® issue, which comes out on September 29. BestFest, held on September 24 and 25 in Midtown, will feature past and present Best of Houston® winners performing for and feeding our guests throughout the weekend.
Musical guests include Cake (not the edible kind; the kind that sang "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" and "The Distance"), Toadies and Chamillionaire, as well as local acts like The Tontons and Bun B.
Even though the Toadies are enough of a draw for me to attend the festival, I know that just as many of you are in it for the food. And there will be food.
Food will be on-hand from Best of Houston® winners throughout the weekend, including the following restaurants:
- Last Concert Cafe
- El "XX" (a.k.a. Xuco Xicana)
- Beaver's
- New York Pizzeria
- Rudyard's British Pub
- Kahn's Delicatessen
- The Blue Fish
- Don Julio's
- Sushi King
- Mandola's Deli
- Freebird's
Samples will be available from each restaurant for $4, while more substantial plates of food (we're talking meal-sized) will be available for $8.
And today only, tickets to BestFest itself are only $25 -- that's half off the $50 door price. That $25 gets you music all weekend long as well as access to great food, art, jewelry and more that will be on sale at BestFest from tons of Best of Houston® winners.
Head over to the Voice Daily Deals site to get your half-price tickets, but hurry! The deal ends today at midnight.
