Legally putting on a beer festival in the state of Texas is about as easy as sitting down at your favorite Tex-Mex place and limiting yourself to one chip and one scoop of salsa. Probably not going to happen. Moody Gardens is hoping to change the former -- Richard Simmons might be able to help you with the latter.
The Galveston amuse-resort-restau-beach-quarium-park will host the Brewmasters International Beer Festival over Labor Day weekend this year. The Brewmasters are hoping to lure suds lovers with 300 different beers and two main events, the Brew HaHa Grand Tasting and the BrewLicious food and beer pairing.
There will also be a golf tournament, beer education classes, a homebrew competition and a concert by Night Ranger (which would actually be a deterrent for me, but to each his own). The fest will be craft and import beer-focused and won't include mass-produced American adjunct light lagers.
Tickets went on sale on July 19 and will be available at the door for a slight up-charge if they don't sell out first.
