Yes, that really is the name of the sandwich.
I am not a Starbucks person--I am a Dunkin' Donuts person all the way. If you've never had a Dunkin' Donuts coffe, you are really missing out on something delicious, and I really think Starbucks' coffee is terrible, unless you go for the lattes and mochas and other things with whips and toppings that mask the actual flavor of the coffee. However the food at Starbucks is another matter altogether, and I have had great luck with their snacks and sandwiches.
In need of a quick breakfast on-the-go I decided to give the Starbucks Reduced Fat Turkey Bacon with Egg Whites on an English Muffin a whirl. The display sandwich looked promising, so my hopes were high.
On the plus side, the sandwich is served on a truly delicious whole-wheat English muffin. The muffin has a lot of flavor and good texture -- seeds and whole grains are visible, and they make chewing just a little more fun. I think there may even be a touch of honey in there.
The egg white portion of the sandwich is pre-made, so it is nothing to write home about, but it is large enough to meet the edges of the muffin, and the texture is soft rather than rubbery so even if it doesn't taste incredible, it's not unpleasant to eat.
The turkey bacon is--well, it's friggin' turkey bacon. Turkey bacon is never going to be as awesome as regular bacon, but fitting into the pants I already own is pretty awesome, so I often opt for it. Unfortunately there isn't quite enough turkey bacon on this sandwich--I got about half as much turkey bacon as I did sandwich, and the non-turkey bacon bites were very bland.

The addition of a bit of reduced-fat cheddar cheese and a "butter flavor" spread added enough flavor overall to keep this sammy on my "I'd order it again" list. I actually think that if I brought this home, added a thick slice of tomato, some arugula or spinach and a couple of dashes of hot sauce, I could have a really great hangover cure on my hands.
The ultimate verdict? The taste isn't amazing, but the quality muffin bumps it up above your average breakfast muffin sandwich. The nutritional content is decent--320 calories, 7 grams of fat, 18 grams of protein, and 3 grams of dietary fiber--and the price tag is not overly expensive at $2.95. I think it's worth a stop at Starbucks, as long as you avoid the coffee.
