Five Guys started out in Arlington, Virginia in 1986 with a small location that quickly became a cult favorite in the Washington, D.C. area. By 2001, they had expanded their business to include five other tremendously popular D.C. locations. Sensing the opportunity to expand on a national level, Five Guys entered the franchise market. By 2003, they had established over 300 locations across 25 states.
The Five Guys Burgers and Fries location at Bunker Hill marks their first entry into the competitive Houston restaurant market. A second location will open on May 1st at San Felipe and Voss in the Kroeger Center.
Five Guys hopes to set themselves apart from the hundreds of other burger establishments in the city with simple, straightforward tactics. Their beef for their enormous patties is freshly ground every day -- they pride themselves on not having a single freezer on site -- their hand-cut fries are made from Idaho potatoes flown in on a daily basis, and their menu of free toppings makes for over 250,000 potential combinations.
