Chicken livers can have a strong taste if they’re not prepared correctly, but the Peli-Peli chicken livers ($8) at South African restaurant Peli-Peli (110 Vintage Park, building J, suite P, 281-257-9500) are prepared expertly. The presentation is as dramatic as its flavor, with the livers served in a round red bowl, the tomato-and-onion relish in a triangular black dish and both on a rectangular red platter. The livers are finely minced and sautรฉed with tomatoes, onions and peri-peri peppers, which give a nice heat to this spectacular dish. A Portuguese dinner roll is perfect for sopping up the sauce at the bottom of the bowl.
