Here’s Where to Drink in Houston on National Tequila Day


Great news, tequila lovers! National Tequila Day is this Friday, July 24. From tequila flights to special cocteles, we've got a round up of the coolest drink specials in town. Viva Tequila!

Añejo Tex-Mex

This Tex-Mex spot’s specials will include $5.50 Dulce Vita Margaritas and a $15 Tequila flight featuring Dulce Vita Blanco, Dulce Vita Reposado, and Dulce Vita Anejo. Get there before 6 p.m. and enjoy their new $6 Happy Hour bar menu in addition to half off select beverages.

Arnaldo Richards’ Picos

Arnaldo Richards’ Picos and Tequila Herradura have teamed up to bring guests the ultimate tequila celebration. The fiesta starts with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a live agave harvest and grand tequila tasting and demo at 7:15 p.m. Guests can experience one of the beginning steps in the process of making tequila and get an insider’s look at an old world craft passed down through the generations. Finish off the night with a special four-course, cocktail-paired dinner honoring the state of Jalisco (the home of Tequila) at 7:35 p.m.

Spice things up with Hyatt Market Street Bar’s Jalapeño Watermelon Margarita, which will be offered at half price ($6) all day. Made with Patron Silver, Cointreau, agave nectar, watermelon and jalapeño, the summer drink is perfect for sipping on the hotel’s poolside terrace.

Stake your claim to a prime spot on Peska Seafood Culture’s covered patio or belly up to the beautiful bar for a taste of the Uptown newcomer’s Calle cocktail, featuring Tequila Cabeza lemon juice, agave nectar, mint, Aperol and tepache, made from fermented pineapple. The restaurant will be celebrating National Tequila Day by toasting Recipe for Success Foundation. Purchase a margarita or Calle cocktail, and $1 will be donated to the Houston-based and nationally acclaimed non-profit dedicated to combating childhood obesity.

Head to this Montrose haunt at 8 p.m. for a Tequila Day party featuring $5 housemade infused tequilas, $5 frozens, and fresh beats from DJ Fredster.

Check in and check out at Royal Sonesta Houston’s striking Axis Lounge with an uber refreshing Paloma with Sauza Blue Silver Tequila, grapefruit soda and lime or the Bloody Maria, a sassy sibling to the Bloody Mary.

Stop by STRAITS, where its Spiced Mango Margaritas, made with Cazadores Silver Tequila, mango puree, Triple Sec, lime juice and a chili rim, will be offered at half price ($6) all day. If mango is too sweet for your palate, opt for a more citrus forward cocktail like the Black Diamond, made with Dobel Maestro Diamante Tequila, Hawaiian black sea salt and lime. Regularly $12, STRAITS will be offering the Black Diamond for $7 all day long.
