We hope you've marked your calendar for the December 19th event at Sonoma Wine Bar, because we can't wait to see you there.

Eating Our Words is excited to be hosting its first ever event for our readers: a Holiday Tasting that will feature not only 40 different kinds of wine, but beer and champagne too. Your $45 ticket buys you samples of all these beverages, as well as gourmet food from Sonoma's kitchen, a cozy seat by the roaring fire, good company and great live music from the Charlie Perez Trio and DJ Thomas Cauley.

Even better, you'll receive a 20 percent discount on any bottles of wine you buy or a whopping 25 percent on any case -- it's holiday shopping and holiday decompression all in one event. And to make your shopping that much easier, Sonoma will also offer free gift wrapping for all your purchases that night.

If you're looking to step up your wine game, an additional $40 will buy you a special VIP ticket that includes tastes of Sonoma's cellar collection -- a rare assortment of wines that aren't normally available to be sampled. And if you find a gem, you'll get the same discount on the high-end cellar wines too.

So save the date and don't be late -- the Holiday Wine Tasting kicks off at 6 p.m. on December 19 and runs until 11 p.m. We'll be there with bells on. Will you?

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
