Houston's 5 Best Weekend Food Bets: Crawfish, Whiskey & Food Truck Eats

Kemah Crawfish Festival @ Kemah City Parking Lot Friday - Sunday 604 Bradford

The 5th Annual Kemah Crawfish Festival is taking place all weekend long. Enjoy live music, dancing, drinks, and plenty of $2.99 per pound crawfish on Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is $8 (kids under 12 are free).

Haute Wheels Houston - THE Food Truck Festival @ Houston Community College West Loop Campus Saturday - Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. 5601 West Loop South

Head to the Haute Wheels Food Truck Festival for two days of gourmet food truck eats, fine wines, ice-cold beer, artisan goods, and live music. This year, over 34 skilled chefs will be preparing their haute cuisine. Tickets are $16 (plus fees) per person for Saturday or Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

2nd Anniversary Block Party @ 8th Wonder Brewery Saturday, 3 p.m. 2202 Dallas

This awesome EaDo brewery, who unveiled a brand new tap room earlier this year, is celebrating its 2nd birthday this Saturday. Head there for live music, tasty brews, and a sure to be good time. General admission tickets ($35) will get you a 16 oz plastic stadium cup and 4 beverage tickets to use on your choice of 4 beers on tap, including a specialty, new release brewed just for the Celebr8ion. VIP tickets ($125) include private access to brewery and taproom, a VIP viewing area of stage plus meet and greet with The Suffers, a collector's pint glass and poster, open bar access to all beers available in the taproom (including specialty casks), and gourmet eats from Eatsie Boys.

Lighten Up Y'all Cooking Class @ Central Market Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. 3815 Westheimer

Food Network Star Virginia Willis is stopping by Houston while on a multi-city tour for her newest cookbook, Lighten Up Y'all: Classic Southern Recipes Made Healthy and Wholesome. Join her for a cooking class and dinner, where you'll learn about and sample dishes like cider-braised pork loin with apple thyme jus, makeover broccoli mac and cheese, and cream cheese swirl brownies, at Central Market. Tickets are $70 per person.

Houston Whiskey Festival @ Bayou Event Center Saturday, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (6 p.m. for VIP) 9401 Knight Road

Tonight, the second annual HWF kicks off with a VIP dinner ($110) at Mr. Peeple's Seafood & Steak, 1911 Bagby, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. But on Saturday, the real fun begins. Enjoy whiskey sampling, live music, seminars from whiskey masters, and a cigar and whiskey sipping lounge, and more. General admission tickets ($65) include whiskey samples, a buffet of hors d'oeuvres, and entrance to seminars, among other fun things. VIP tickets ($125) include all of that plus admission to the Grand Tasting room a full hour prior to regular admission and access the VIP lounge.
