Houston's 5 Best Weekend Food Bets: Hot Dogs, Beer & BBQ

Texas Crawfish & Music Festival @ Preservation Park Friday, gates open at 6 p.m.; Saturday - Sunday, gates open at noon Old Town SpringHead to the historic 1900s railroad town of Old Town Spring to celebrate the best of Texas mudbugs and music. The family friendly event, offered over this weekend and next, features tons of local, regional and national entertainment and some of the tastiest crawfish in the South. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the gate or online ($2 for Zydeco Fridays).

Karbach Pub Crawl @ The Woodlands Waterway Saturday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Finish Houston Beer Week strong with a Karbach Pub Crawl in The Woodlands. Start at Stadia before moving to Baker Street, Refuge, Goose's Acre, and finishing at Bar Louie. The brewery's newest seasonal, Staycation, will be flowing at all of the bars along the way.

Katy Sip n Stroll @ Villagio Town Center Saturday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 22764 Westheimer

Sip and nosh your way through the picturesque courtyard of Villagio Town Center at this bi-annual event. Alongside live music, local restaurants will be on hand to offer guests an array of samples as Kroger provides a display of food selections, water and wine sampling. There will also be Bubbles @ Villagio, an hour-long early offering featuring bubbly and nibbles and early access to start the strolling fun before the crowds at 4 p.m.. Tickets (starting at $35 for general admission) are available for purchase now.

3rd Annual Houston Barbecue Festival @ NRG Park Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 8400 Kirby (Green Lot)

Now in its third year, this BBQ fest is set to be bigger, better, and meatier than ever. Pitmasters from top spots like Killen's Barbecue, Gatlin's BBQ, and Ray's BBQ Shack will be serving up finger-licking ribs, slabs of smoked brisket, juicy sausage and more all day long. General admission ($50) includes entry into the festival and unlimited sample portions from each participating Houston barbecue joint. The past two years have sold out, so get your tickets now.

Draughts and Dogs @ Saint Arnold Brewery Sunday, 5 p.m. 2000 Lyons

Join an incredible lineup of chefs/restaurants and Saint Arnold in raising money for Lucky Dog Rescue with this Chef Hot-Dog Throwdown and Beer Dinner. The grand line-up features award-winning chef Randy Evans representing JCI Grill, Ja'Nell Witt of Corner Table, and Kevin Naderi of Roost/Lillo & Ella, to name a few. Tickets ($40) can be purchased online and include a taste of the dogs and beer pairings.
