Houston's 5 Best Weekend Food Bets: When Beer & Yoga Collide

Hit this end-of-summer bash for an evening of fun for kids and adults. The Tailgate Party will feature a beer garden with some of your favorite refreshments from No Label Brewery, a “Taste of Katy” local restaurant contest, vendor & merchant booths to shop around in, a cool fun zone with activities for the younger attendees, a street dance and live tunes, and a family picnic area. Entry fees are school supplies or a backpack. All proceeds will benefit Operation Backpack with the YMCA. 

Lone Star Beer Heritage Festival @ Silver Street Studios
Saturday, 2 to 10 p.m.

This Lone Star-centric festival celebrates Texas heritage through food, music and brews. Entry is free, but you can donate $25 in advance to guarantee entry (100 percent of the ticket proceeds will go to the Houston Food Bank). You can expect a Texas-size lineup of local eats, Lone Star brews and live performances, including honky-tonk legend Dale Watson and Grammy Award-winning Latin funk orchestra Grupo Fantasma.

Mixers & Elixirs @ Houston Museum of Natural Science

The last Mixers & Elixirs of the summer is upon us. Pop on over to HMNS to mingle, clink your cocktail glass and break out your best dance moves with the dinosaurs. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the live band, dancing, cash bars and the city's best food trucks, including Pho-Jita, Tila’s Food Truck and Mr. Sizzles.

Hit Quattro before the Kevin Hart show to enjoy a two-course dinner and free parking. Hosted by Expedition Balance, the Yoga FUNdraiser costs $25, which will get you delicious beer, an epic yoga class and sweet tunes to help you close out the weekend right. All proceeds go to help support the programs of Expedition Balance, which will serve veterans with yoga, meditation, outdoor retreats and other great things to help warriors heal. There will also be food from Blood Bros. BBQ, Anna’s Gourmet Greek and Fat Cat Creamery available for purchase, as well as FREE five-minute massages provided by Texas Thai Sports Massage.
