Here's a look at this week's hottest culinary happenings:

New Special

Brunch launch at HS Green

HS Green, 5092 Richmond, is celebrating Houston’s love for brunch with its own grand brunch opening, offering a menu of healthy choices and guilty pleasures. Indulge your a.m. cravings with avocado eggs benny, bagel sandwiches, a variety of breakfast tacos and fluffy pancakes; or go for lunchier affairs such as bangers and mash with eggs and truffle mac and cheese with poached eggs and bacon. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All month long

Washoku for Harvey Relief at Kata Robata

Kata Robata, 3600 Kirby, has joined up with the Japan America Society of Houston for a special "Washoku for Harvey Relief." The eatery has created a Washoku Bento Box dinner, which includes a dozen traditional Japanese dishes from sashimi and miso-marinated black cod to grilled kobe and tamagoyaki (rolled omelet). The special Bento Box is available for dinner only and sells for $58 per person, with 10 percent of the sale of each box going to the relief fund.

Monday, November 6

White Truffle Dinner at Da Marco

With white truffles in season, Da Marco, 1520 Westheimer, will be hosting a special dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Guests can expect a multi-course meal prepared with this season's new white truffles from Alba alongside eight wines from renowned Piemontese winemaker, Beni di Batasiolo. Tuesday, November 7

Anniversary Wine Dinner at Etoile Cuisine et Bar

Celebrating five years, Etoile Cuisine et Bar, 1101-11 Uptown Park, will be hosting a very special anniversary wine dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. The five-course dinner will feature an array of seafood, beef and pork, all carefully paired with Domaine de Cristia wines from Medallion Global of Houston. The cost of the dinner is $98 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 832-668-5808.

A Night of Caviar at Potente

DR Delicacy and Potente, 1515 Texas, will present La Nuit du Caviar (A Night of Caviar) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will highlight domestic and imported caviars and fresh autumn truffles from France and Italy, as chef Danny Trace serves up a menu paired with champagne and vodka provided by Belvedere, Dom Pérignon and Moët. Tickets are $200 per person and proceeds will go to benefit The Astros Foundation and The Astros Harvey Relief Fund. 

Wednesday, November 8

Monthly Wine Tasting and 40th Anniversary Celebration at Rainbow Lodge

Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella, is wrapping up its 40th year with tastes of three fun wines and the release of something very special: an exclusive Whistle Pig Single Barrel Ten-Year Rye Whiskey, Rainbow Lodge Anniversary Edition. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and cost is $35 per person through November 7 and $40 per person day of, inclusive of tax, service, wine and food (crab cakes, smoked duck and andouille gumbo, fried Texas quail bites and dark chocolate-ancho tart bites). Opus One Vertical Tasting and Dinner at Fielding's Local Kitchen + Bar

Fielding's Local Kitchen + Bar, 26400 Kuykendahl, will host an Opus One Vertical Tasting and Dinner at 6 p.m. The menu includes Overture NV, Opus One 2005, 2007, 2012 and 2014 paired with a five-course menu. The cost is $299 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Seating is very limited and reservations are required at 281-351-2225.

Domaine Dublère Dinner at Brasserie 19

Brasserie 19, 1962 West Gray, is partnering with Domaine Dublère for an elegant wine dinner beginning at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy a prix-fixe menu guided by owner and winemaker, Blair Pethel, for $125 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Seating is limited. Call Brasserie 713-524-1919.

Thursday, November 9

The Periwinkle Foundation’s Iron Sommelier event returns. Held at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, 111 North Post Oak, from 6 to 10 p.m., the wine competition and tasting features top-area sommeliers, including Evan Turner of Helen Greek Food and Wine and Helen in the Heights and Matthew Pridgen of One Fifth and Underbelly. Tickets are $200 per person with underwriting opportunities available. 

Two Year Anniversary at The Burger Joint

The Burger Joint, 2703 Montrose, will be celebrating its second anniversary with a brew-filled burger bash from 6 to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy $5 8th Wonder Brewery pints (in free pint glasses), plus $3 refills and gift card giveaways. 

Japanese Sake Pairing Dinner at Lucille’s

Guests can embark on a tour of Japan at an intimate, five-course dinner paired with five unique sakes at Lucille’s, 5512 La Branch, beginning at 7 p.m. Rodney Willis, a certified sommelier, will be on-site to discuss the sakes, which have no retail presence. The cost is $85 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and space is limited. Call 713-568-2505.

Friday, November 10

Holiday Champagne Tasting at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse - Galleria

Celebrate the start of this holiday season at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse at the Houston Galleria, 5839 Westheimer, by tasting an array of spectacular Champagnes beginning at 5:30 p.m. For $120, guests will be able to taste a chef selection of seasonal hors d’oeuvres and find a new favorite bubbly to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Saturday, November 11

Veterans Day at Main Event

From open to 5 p.m., all active-duty military and veterans are invited to visit Main Event locations to enjoy a complimentary entrée and get a $10 FUNcard on the house. Entrees options include grilled top sirloin with fries, a bacon cheddar burger and fries, teriyaki salmon and more.

Veterans Day at McDonald’s

McDonald's restaurants in the Greater Houston area will honor veterans and current military servicemen and servicewomen with a free Extra Value Meal this Veterans Day. Veterans and current members of the military can visiting participating restaurants and show their Military ID to redeem the offer.

Brandy 101 at Public Services Wine & Whisky

Beginning at 2 p.m., Public Services Wine & Whisky, 202 Travis, will host a class exploring the category of brandy via classic expressions from Europe and modern, new-world examples. Snacks from chef Karen Man will also be served. Tickets are $65 per person.

A Taste of Cy-Fair

Held at Lakeland Village Center, 10615 Fry, from 5 to 8 p.m., A Taste of Cy-Fair will celebrate the Cy-Fair community with bites from over 40 restaurant stations, plus beer, wine, a market and live music. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids under 12-years-old, and proceeds from the event will benefit Cy-Hope with funding flagged for Cy-Fair Hurricane Harvey victims and recovery efforts.

Sunday, November 12

International Risotto Festival at The Houston Design Center

Fans of fine food and wine are invited to attend the 12th International Risotto Festival, held at The Houston Design Center, 7026 Old Katy, from 2 to 6 p.m. The gourmet food festival includes an afternoon of Italian foods along with fantastic wines, plus music, entertainment, exotic cars, a charity auction, activities for kids and designer showroom tours. Some of Houston’s top chefs will be competing in the blind tasting including Tiago Almeida of Quattro at The Four Seasons, Jon Buchanan of Third Coast, Bryan Caswell of Oxbow 7 and Scotty Campbell of DR Delicacy, along with others. Tickets are $85 for general admission or $175 for VIP, and this year’s event will benefit the Casa de Esperanza, the House of Hope for Children.
