The 2026 James Beard Award Finalists were announced today, and out of the 12 semifinalists from Houston, six have been declared finalists in their categories, along with a special Impact Award for Southern Smoke Foundation. 

The JBA for chefs and restaurants began in 1990, five years after the death of its namesake culinary pioneer, James Beard. The prestigious awards showcase America’s best and brightest restaurateurs, chefs, mixologists and industry professionals.

Presented by Capital One, the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony will be held June 15, 2026 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

 While we think the Houston list of stars could be a little longer, here are the stellar finalists that will be representing our city.
