The tom kha gai (coconut soup with chicken) at Thai Choice restaurant on Wilcrest at Westheimer was really rich with lots of coconut, galangal and mushroom flavor. But we asked for it "Thai hot," and what we got wasn't very spicy at all. We told our waiter that he could make the soup a lot hotter for our tastes.
As we were leaving, the waiter caught up to us with a to-go order that we hadn't asked for. It was another order of tom kha gai, only this one was a whole hell of a lot hotter. We ate it for lunch today with tears running down our cheeks. What a lovely bowl of soup that was.
