"We've got about 9,000 square feet out here, and what's nice about the country is that you have a little more room to work with." That's how Levi Goode describes his latest Goode Company Barbeque (20102 Northwest Fwy., 832-678-3562), which just opened in far northwest Houston. "We noticed that the market was underserved out here and that there were lots of barbecue lovers out this way. We created a turn-of-the-century old farmhouse and general store look. We have a meat market where people can buy top-quality meats to grill at home, and smoked jerky. We'll be selling cooking tools as well. We'll also be doing some cooking demos. Here you'll get a real flavor of Texas."
Anyone who has eaten at any of the Goode Company restaurants knows the quality of the food is hard to beat. Since 1977, when the Goode family opened their first barbecue restaurant, on Kirby Drive, they have promised to serve up nothing but the best, making everything from scratch, whether it be the jalapeño bread, the sausages or the unparalleled pecan pie. This is the seventh restaurant the family owns. Are there plans for No. 8? Not yet, says Levi. "We've got our platter full right now."
