I'm generally a pretty healthy eater. My idea of fast food is picking up a readymade vegetable-heavy dinner from Whole Foods. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, I love Cheetos.
In fact, I have dedicated an entire day of the week to it: "Cheeto Sunday." The idea is simple. On Sundays, I eat Cheetos. Lots of them. This week I thought I would combine my love of Cheetos with my love of wine. The results were ridiculously successful.
I went with a 2009 Höpler Grüner Veltliner, an Austrian wine with subtle mineral tones and a faint aroma of apricots. It is a delicate wine with a nice fruity sweetness and velvety finish. Although my family is not usually big on wine, we were literally fighting over the last glass (and the last Cheeto).

The cheesy chips and the wine didn't overpower each other. The saltiness of the Cheetos subdued the sweetness of the wine, and the wine provided a creaminess that balanced the dryness of the Cheeto. It was an excellent pairing that will soon be repeated. Probably next Sunday.
