Restaurants Are Lining Up Quickly for Menu of Menus® 2014

The 12th annual Menu of Menus® food and wine extravaganza is just a little more than a month away, and restaurants are RSVPing to the event faster than you can say free booze. On April 8, you'll finally get a chance to taste some of the great selections from local restaurants, but until then, you can drool over the folks who've said they'll be there.

One of last year's favorites, Latin Bites, will be joining us again with their upscale Peruvian cuisine (please let there be lots of aji amarillo!). There will be Cajun cookin' from The Cajun Stop, one of the best -- if not the best -- Cajun and Creole restaurants in town.

Mexican and Tex-Mex food will be represented, no doubt, and the first such restaurant to agree to grace us with its presence is Listos Restaurant and Catering, known for tacos, tamales and big, juicy burgers. Also bringing the burgers is Fat Boy's Bar & Grill, a new addition to the Houston restaurant scene that offers everything from burgers to Tex-Mex and pasta to wings. No wonder that boy is fat.

In keeping with the continental theme of this first group of restaurants, we've got German restaurant Verts Kebap, an Austin import featuring Berlin street food-style sandwiches and wraps. Verts plans on opening three stores in Houston this spring, but none are open yet, so Menu of Menus® might be your first opportunity to try this Texan twist on a German classic.

Bringing the Italian is Brio Tuscan Grille, famous for $5 martinis (which unfortunately won't be at Menu of Menus®) and pasta galore (which very well might make an appearance).

On the American front, we'll be welcoming one of the best new restaurants of 2013, Frank's Americana Revival, which won us over with simple, classic American food prepared just as it should be. The restaurant makes a great pork chop and an even better lobster salad. Of course, if it's lobster you crave, don't miss Maine-ly Sandwiches, the number one purveyor of lobster rolls in Houston. The shop offers a number of other superb sandwiches, but the lobster is definitely the best and the most famous.

For dessert, we've tapped Orange Leaf and Shipley Do-Nuts for something a little healthy and something a little not-so-healthy, though they're equally as delicious. Orange Leaf will be sampling frozen yogurt, while Shipley will bring its famous doughnuts.

We'll keep updating the list with more restaurants throughout the month, and we'll also be doing another VIP ticket giveaway as we get closer to the event.

Menu of Menus® will be held on April 8 at Silver Street Station from 7 to 10 p.m. General admission tickets are currently on sale for $40 until March 15. After then, GA tickets will be $50, and will be $60 at the door. VIP tickets are available for $80 until March 15, $90 after that and $100 at the door. We hope to see you there!
