Houston Burgers: This burger blog has been dormant for a few months, but a brand-new post popped up in my Google Reader today -- and just in time for baseball season. This week, Darrell reviewed the new deep-fried mac 'n' cheese burger at Minute Maid Park, which contains the same deep-fried mac 'n' cheese chef Bryan Caswell serves at Reef. (You'll remember that the chef has a partnership with the baseball team.)

Robb Walsh: Have you been following along as Robb Walsh demonstrates how to make hot sauce at home that rivals a bottle of Tabasco? Then you'll know that Part 2 of the two-part series is now up.

The Mija Chronicles: If you're going to make hot sauce at home, you'll need something to cool your tongue off afterward. So make this at home, too: Lesley's recipe for a refreshing strawberry-lime agua fresca, which is perfect for the hot and muggy weather.

Jack Around: If you prefer something stronger, grab a beer. An organic beer. Because -- after all, as Jack reminds us -- it's Organic Beer Month, and he's got a few good suggestions for you.

Arbitrary Criticism: This is my favorite review of The Burger Guys ever written. Period.

CultureMap: Finally, new Mexican seafood restaurant La Fisheria receives its first full review from CultureMap's Sarah Rufca -- and she's not impressed. Why? You'll have to read on for yourself...

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
