Snackshot: Dahi Poori

Today's savory Snackshot comes to us from shnewell and Indika.

Dahi Poori

From the photographer's description:

"The dahi poori appetizer at Indika on Westheimer. Each one is like a little puff of deliciousness!"

The fried bread puffs called dahi poori are basically a vehicle for creative toppings. Although not currently on Indika's spring menu, dahi poori can be made at home if you have patience and a cupboard of Indian ingredients (which aren't that hard to find in Houston). After you've fried them up, scatter a few pomegranate seeds and toasted pine nuts on top along with a dollop of mint-coriander chutney and you're well on your way to replicating Indika's dahi poori in your own kitchen.

Remember to submit your own photos (of food or anything else!) to the Houston Press Flickr Pool. We'll choose our favorite food photo each Monday to be featured here on Eating Our Words.
