"Now, Michael is from New Orleans and knows his muffalettas. He knows the difference between a great muffaletta burger, a mediocre muffaletta burger and a that's-for-people-who-don't-know-any-better muffaletta burger. This one was described as 'muffalicious' so I think that definitely falls into the first category."
Hubcap Grill on Prairie, next to the Alden Hotel downtown, is one of the recent entries into the Houston burger scene. But unlike most new places, it's neither a chain (Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Smashburger, etc.) nor run by a hot local chef (i.e., Little Big's). What it is is tiny, unassuming and delicious. But it's only open for lunch and only takes cash, so go prepared.
