Street Food Festival @ Whole Foods Market Friday-Sunday, 12-5 p.m. 701 Waugh Dr.
All of the Whole Foods Markets in Houston will host a "Street Food Festival" this weekend, but the Montrose Whole Foods Market will celebrate New Orleans-style. On Saturday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., James Nelson of Bravado Spice Company will compete in the New Orleans-themed Hot Sauce Throw Down against Whole Foods Market team members. Nelson and the Whole Foods Market crew will create dishes with New Orleans hot sauce and attendees will get to taste each creation to determine the winner.
The Street Food Festival lasts throughout the weekend, but on Saturday each of the participating Whole Foods Markets will partake in a simultaneous cracking of 85-pound Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheels. Fun fact: Whole Foods Market (as a company, not just in Houston) holds the Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Parmesan Cheese Wheels Cracked Simultaneously" during last year's event. Stop by any Whole Foods Market in Houston, Sugar Land or Katy to sample some street food and cheese, as well as hot sauce creations at the Montrose Whole Foods.
