Food Truck Friday @ Houston Press Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 2603 La Branch
Head on over to the Houston Press office and grab some grub from Houston's Finest Soul Food on Wheels. Choose from stuffed-bacon hamburgers, catfish sandwiches, chicken wings and smothered pork chops, and don't forget to throw in a side of coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, or mustard greens. You definitely won't be hungry after Food Truck Friday.
Neighborhood Meet & Greet @ Solaro Urban Winery Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 330 T.C. Jester
Check out the recently opened Solaro Urban Winery on Saturday and sample Texas wines paired with Texas food while listening to some Texas music -- locality is a theme, can't you tell? Solaro Urban Winery brings the wine produced at the estate and vineyard in Dripping Springs (near Austin) to the location in Houston where the public can sample the wines in the tasting rooms and purchase a bottle or two. This urban winery also makes its own wine on-site from the imported grapes.
White Linen Night in the Heights Saturday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Heights
Put on your finest white linens and spend the evening in the Heights at various restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and retail stores. Most places will be offering food along with shopping deals. Don't miss out on tacos, margaritas and beer at Tacos A Go Go, or gelato at the back patio of Gelazzi. Shop the sale at Alabama Furniture while filling up on cupcakes from Cupcakes A GoGo and food from Mon's Meals and Quite A Stir food trucks -- pair it all with some hard lemonade. Visit the White Linen Night in the Heights website for more information on participating locations.
37th Annual Harvest Festival @ Messina Hof Winery & Resort Friday to Saturday 4545 Old Reliance Road, Bryan
Messina Hof's Harvest Festival kicks off tonight with the Moonlit Harvest at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $85 per person. During this event, guests will learn how to harvest grapes and will get the chance to pick grapes at sundown. Of course, after the grapes have been picked, they must be stomped. And after all that "hard work and labor" -- who are we kidding -- stomping grapes is fun, everyone will sit down to a buffet dinner at The Vintage House Restaurant. Messina Hof will also host a murder mystery dinner on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets to this event cost $69.95.
