The 5 Best Things to Eat or Drink This Weekend: It's Crawfish & Barbecue

Pearland Crawfish Festival @ Shadow Creek Ranch Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 15800 South Freeway, Pearland

Come for one day, or for all three days this weekend at the Pearland Crawfish Festival. Feast on crawfish from Swamp Shack Catering for $4 per pound, as well as chicken and sausage jambalaya, shrimp and crab gumbo, crawfish étouffée and boudin balls. There will also be a multitude of Cajun and Creole food like fried alligator, catfish sandwiches, grilled oysters, red beans and rice, shrimp po'boys and sweet potato beignets. If those foods don't suit your fancy, then there's also classic carnival food like corn dogs, kettle corn, cotton candy, hamburgers, and fried Oreo cookies and Snickers bars. Between meals and snacks, enjoy live music from Zydeco bands and carnival rides (ride tickets are an additional purchase). Purchase a three-day pass for $16, or a pass for each day for $6 in advance and $8 at the door.

Friends of St. Jude & YPE 6th Annual Crawfish Boil @ Goode's Armadillo Palace Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 5015 Kirby Dr.

The Friends of St. Jude and Young Professionals in Energy will host the 6th Annual Crawfish Boil to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Head to Goode's Armadillo Palace to raise money for this incredible cancer research hospital. Get your tickets before 1 p.m. today for an early bird price of $30, or purchase your tickets at the door for $40. Tickets include all the crawfish you can eat, beer, live music from The Josh Fuller Band and a t-shirt. When you purchase your tickets, you can also make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or become a sponsor. No family at St. Jude receives a bill for medical treatment, housing, travel or care of their child, so individual contributions are important to the daily operations at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Wine Festival @ Brenner's on the Bayou Saturday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. 1 Birdsall St.

Spring has sprung, and what better way to celebrate this beautiful weather than by walking around the grounds at Brenner's on the Bayou during the Brenner's on the Bayou Annual Wine Festival this Saturday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.? You will sample a variety of wines from a multitude of wineries, including Miraval, La Crema, Wild Horse, Cakebread Cellars and Simi Winery. Regular tickets cost $65 and include samples of 20 wines, and food from Brenner's on the Bayou, Grotto Ristorante, McCormick & Schmick's and Vic & Anthony's. VIP tickets cost $125 and include the same food and wine as general admission, as well as access to the VIP room inside Brenner's on the Bayou, premium wine selections, opportunities to speak with winery representatives, special entertainment, and food from The Oceanaire and Red Sushi. Guest must be 21 years and older.

Houston BBQ Festival @ Reliant Park Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 1 Reliant Park

The 2nd Annual Houston BBQ Festival take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and will show off barbecued meats from many local BBQ joints, including Pizzitola's, Gatlin's, Killen's, CorkScrew, The Brisket House and Spring Creek. These participating barbecue joints will be joined by guest pit masters Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, Texas, and John Avila of Morgan's Barbecue in Brooklyn, NY -- you'll get to taste their barbecue, too! Purchase a $50 general admission ticket to feast on unlimited samples from the participating barbecue joints. Beer and wine will be sold at the bar for an additional cost. All tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are free for children under the age of 6.

Share Our Strength's "Taste of the Nation Houston" @ The Houstonian Hotel Sunday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 111 Post Oak Lane

On Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Share Our Strength will host a culinary benefit and fundraiser to end childhood hunger in America. Taste of the Nation Houston will take place in the garden outside of The Houstonian Hotel. General admission tickets cost $100 and include food and drink samples from The Bird & the Bear, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Zelko Bistro, Hubbell & Hudson, Frank's Americana Revival, Max's Wine Dive and many more. VIP tickets include the same food and drink samples as GA, as well as access to the VIP lounge, where guests can enjoy special drinks and food. During the event, guests will have the chance to bid on items in the silent auction benefiting the Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry Campaign. Beneficiaries of the event include The Houston Food Bank, Kids' Meals Houston and the Center for Public Policy Priorities.
