Final Saturday with the Sous @ Brennan's of Houston Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 3300 Smith

During this final cooking class of the summer's Saturday with the Sous series, chef Joe Cervantez will take each person through a three-course cooking demonstration featuring some of the freshest ingredients of the season. Cervantez loves to garden and was even the mastermind behind the "Home Grown" project at Brennan's of Houston. You will start the cooking demonstration with a blue crab and Moondog Farm watermelon salad with sweet potato greens, cucumber ribbons, cayenne-spiced Brazil nuts and a mojito apple mint vinaigrette. The second course includes a Texas whiskey Lacquered Hill country quail served with a Froberg fig and sweet potato brioche stuffing, summer squash, a sunny side quail egg, applewood bacon and Livegreen swiss chard. You'll then finish the meal with a sweet peach and cherries jubilee cobbler made with cognac glazed Cooper Farm peaches, Homestead sorghum granola and fresh goat's milk ice cream.
