If you love food, and want to sample some of the best food and wine in the greater Houston area, this is your week. More than 10,000 food and wine lovers are expected to attend the 7th Annual Wine & Food Week in The Woodlands, happening from now until June 12. With more than 40 events throughout the week featuring more than 500 wines, 50 restaurants, and legendary wine producers and personalities from across the country, the annual event is the biggest epicurean extravaganza from New Orleans to Aspen.
Presented by H-E-B, the week's events include wine education classes, chef demonstrations, cookbook author events, live and silent auctions, and casual to fine wine-and-dine experiences culminating in the signature event on Saturday evening, The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Texas Monthly Chef Showcase, when guests sample delectable cuisine and hundreds of wines as chefs representing more than 50 restaurants compete for the national Wine & Food Week's Waterford Crystal "Chef of Chefs" Award and a $5,000 cash and prize package. On the same evening, a "Just Desserts" contest presented by My Table Magazine will crown the night's dessert extraordinaire. The signature event is $125 per person, or $175 for VIP tickets, which include admission to the Cadillac Premium Lounge, where guests can sample premier wines.
Other notable events include Thursday evening's H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street, where guests will be able to taste and stroll in a European-style center featuring 40 wine tasting stations, light bites, live music and interactive fun along the Woodland's Market Street from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are $50 in advance and $60 at the door.
On Friday evening, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Sips, Suds & Sliders event, a Texas-size celebration featuring live music, craft beers, wine tastings and a gourmet slider competition, will take place at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
