I rank the invention of the Keurig somewhere between electricity and the Internet. Don't agree?
With coffee being the second largest traded commodity on the planet, I can certainly justify why Keurig will one day rule the world. For those of you in the dark, the Keurig is a single-cup coffee maker that brews java through K-Cups.
5. The Cost
A box of 80 K-Cups totals about $33. That comes to 42 cents a cup -- very reasonable when you compare it to some of the larger chain coffees, where a cup runs in the neighborhood of $1.60. You don't have to be a math major to realize you can get about four K-Cups for that price, and that adds up. One K-Cup a day, for an entire year, totals $150, the chain coffee -- $570.
4. The Convenience
Forget about price for a moment. Let's talk convenience and ease. The steps to using this machine are so simple -- hit the "on" button, fill up container with water, pop in a K-Cup, place mug under dispenser, hit desired coffee strength, wait 30 seconds and enjoy -- one cup, no fuss!
3. The Clean-Up
Given my extreme laziness, this one should probably be ranked higher. An utter slob/deadbeat/loser could handle the Keurig clean-up. Just pop open the top, take the K-Cup out of the machine, and toss in the trash. You don't have to make an entire pot of coffee and then mess with all of the maker's little pieces when it's time to clean.

2. The Taste
I love coffee, probably average about three cups a day, and own all the common hardware: a regular coffee maker, a French press, and the Keurig. The Keurig makes the most consistent cup. I usually order my K-Cups from Green Mountain Coffee (great selection), but when I want to save a few bucks and am looking for bulk, I head to the...
1. The Costco
That's right, the Wal-Mart for yuppies. Costco has it all, including giant boxes of K-Cups for my sacred Keurig. They even carry Newman's Own Extra Bold. Smart move -- I've tried several varieties and Newman's is still my absolute favorite K-Cup.
